The criminal complaint came after a woman “reported a sexual assault to the Philadelphia Police Department on Saturday night” and “attempted to end" a relationship, the D.A.’s office said.

However, evidence from police suggested that Ren began “stalking her vehicle in the early morning hours” the following day and showed that he “shot her in her vehicle,” according to authorities.

“Today’s tragic event is a sobering reminder of the lethal nature of domestic violence,” said Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan in a statement. “... We have successfully taken the defendant into custody and the community is safe.”

The woman involved in the incident was identified by NBC 10 Philadelphia and WPVI-TV as Yuan Yuan Lu, citing the Bristol Township Police Department (BTPD). Lu's cousin, Natalie Truong, told WPVI-TV that Lu and Ren had been dating for nearly a year.

Ring camera footage obtained by NBC10 captured at around 5 a.m. on Sunday allegedly showed Lu driving into the frame in a white SUV and then Ren following behind her in a silver sedan, according to investigators.

Police told WPVI-TV that officers found a woman with a gunshot wound to the head sitting in the driver's seat of a car at around 12:30 p.m. and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

"All we know is that there was some kind of domestic relationship," BTPD Sgt. Jason Mancuso told WPVI-TV. "We believe the couple resided in Philadelphia, and at some point, the relationship had taken a turn for the worst and the victim had come back to her residence in Bucks County."

Lu's cousin, Natalie Truong, told WPVI-TV, "We're still processing a lot of it. It still doesn't feel real… All she wanted to do was leave. Just to leave him."

Truong added, "I want them to remember her as a really happy, strong girl. I don't want them to see her as a victim because she wouldn't want to be seen like that.”
