Gene Hackman's Santa Fe estate found a buyer just 11 days after hitting the market.
The $6.25 million, 53-acre property was officially listed on Jan. 16 by Tara S. Earley and Ricky Allen of Sotheby’s International Realty. As of Jan. 27, the house was listed as pending a sale.

"There will be some buyers that are just averse to purchasing a property where a death has occurred," Earley told the Wall Street Journal at the time of the listing. "There are other buyers for whom that doesn’t matter. We are selling the property on its virtues and all of the positives."
"We just priced it based on what we felt was the fair market value." Per WSJ, the couple's personal effects had been removed and the home was professionally staged.
Hackman, 95, Betsy Arakawa, 65, and one of their three dogs were found dead at their home on Feb. 26, 2025, in advanced states of decomposition. A search warrant affidavit reviewed by PEOPLE reported that Hackman had been found in the mudroom, while Arakawa was found in the bathroom.

Arakawa died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, caused by hantavirus, which is a flu-like illness connected to rodent droppings, saliva, and urine. She died days before Hackman, and her last outward communication was via email on Feb. 11.
Hackman, meanwhile, died of severe heart disease, high blood pressure, and advanced Alzheimer's disease. It's likely that Hackman, whose pacemaker last showed activity on Feb. 17, was at home with his wife's body for days.
A small, private memorial was held for Hackman and Arakawa in April in Santa Fe.
