Jan. 27—GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Police Department has distributed a photo of a vehicle in hopes that the public can help shed some light on an alleged assault case over the weekend.
The reddish four-door sedan is shown in a photo that the GFPD sent to the media Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 27.
"Detectives would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle to identify where the victim was picked up at, and any other information that pertains to this case," the GFPD media release said.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to reach out directly to Sgt. Engstrom at 701-787-8007 or via email at pengstrom@grandforksgov.com.
It stems from a case from early Sunday morning, Jan. 25. According to the GFPD, a man was transported via personal vehicle to Altru Hospital's emergency room shortly after midnight. He had severe lacerations to his head and arm and said he was assaulted with an edged weapon by a random male subject in a residential area south of the hospital. The vehicle that dropped him off was said to be driven by a passerby, the report said, and that person's identity isn't known.
No evidence of an assault has been located, the report said.
"At this time, it is unknown where the assault took place, or even if it occurred within the city of Grand Forks," the report said. "We have been unable to corroborate the victim's statement. No evidence has been obtained to suggest a threat to the public, but people are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and watch for any suspicious persons or circumstances."
