The Peoria City Council has called a special Monday meeting to approve a settlement agreement with Boyd Gaming over the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino replacement in East Peoria.

If passed, Peoria is set to "receive a percentage of reported adjusted gross gaming revenues generated at the redeveloped gaming facility once the facility is open to the public," according to the agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting. Any objections to the new $160 million casino will also be withdrawn by the city of Peoria.

This proposal could end a dispute between Peoria and East Peoria over a 1991 agreement that stated any land-based casino must be built on the Peoria side of the river. Renderings for the new casino were released in December, and feature 29,000 square feet of casino space, 20,500 square feet of ballroom space, a steakhouse and gastropub.

The new casino is scheduled to be completed in late 2028 following 16 months of construction, Boyd said in its presentation last month.
