North State residents came together for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 19, to celebrate the life and legacy of the civil rights icon.
Shasta County celebrated the day with a prayer circle and singing in front of the Shasta County Courthouse. That was followed by a march through downtown Redding to Sequoia Middle School for an event that included performances by the Shasta Children’s Chorus and a community lunch served up by the Asphalt Cowboys.
It was the third straight year that events took place at the junior high school.
