Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The White House on Monday released details from President Donald Trump's October physical amid growing scrutiny over the commander in chief's mental and physical health, saying his results showed he was in "excellent overall health."
Trump underwent his annual physical in October -- his second of the year, leading some critics to question whether it was prompted by issues with his health. Those concerns were fueled by bruising on his hand observed during several public appearances, as well as longstanding accusations from political opponents that he is experiencing mental decline.
While Trump has repeatedly said he is in perfect mental and physical shape, questions were re-raised after the 79-year-old admitted in late October that he had undergone an MRI during the check-up, without specifying what was imaged.

In the memorandum to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Physician to the President Sean Barbabella said that Trump underwent MRI advanced imaging "because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.
"The purpose of this imaging is preventive: to identify issues early, confirm overall health and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function," Barbabella said.
Trump's cardiovascular imaging "is perfectly normal," according to Barbabella, who said, "There is no evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels. The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy and there are no signs of inflammation or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health."
Concerning Trump's abdomen, Barbabella said imaging "is also perfectly normal."

"This level of detailed assessment is standard for an executive physical at President Trump's age and confirms that he remains in excellent overall health," he said.
The memorandum was issued after Trump was asked by reporters Sunday on Air Force One if he was willing to release the results of his MRI.
"If they want to release it, it's okay with me to release it," Trump said. "It's perfect."
The questioning was prompted by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's Sunday appearance on NBC's Meet the Press, during which he reiterated calls for Trump to release the MRI results following the president's Thanksgiving message posted to his Truth Social media platform.

In the message, Trump criticized the United States' "just plain STUPID" immigration policies, using divisive and anti-immigration and derogatory rhetoric while alleging that Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., had entered the United States illegally and used a slur to insult Walz.
Walz said Trump's comments were indicative of him being unfit for office -- allegations the White House and Trump had denied.
"This is not normal behavior. It is not healthy," Walz, who ran against Trump as Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' running mate, said in the interview.
"Look, this is a serious position. It's the most powerful position in the world. And we have someone, at midnight, throwing around slurs that demonize our children. And at the time, he's not solving any problems. So, I am deeply concerned that he is incapable of doing the job."
